1. Great Wolf Lodge Southern California

Great Wolf Lodge is home to the largest indoor water park in Southern California. In fact, the pools and waterslides at this hotel are so fantastic, you’ll want to book an extra day or two to play at Great Wolf Lodge Southern California during your Disneyland vacation!

Inside the 105,000 square feet (9,700+ sq. meters) of space, you’ll find multiple pools, splash pads, and more for swimmers from toddlers to teens. From a lazy river and tot-sized slides to floating adventure courses and daredevil water slides, there’s something for every age and courage level to enjoy. Additionally, there is an outdoor lagoon with a swimming pool, water basketball hoops, and interactive fountains.

Even if you’re not guests at this water park hotel, you can purchase day passes to experience the splashy family fun. Situated in Garden Grove, about 2.2 miles (3.5 km) from Disneyland Resort, a free shuttle is offered to hotel guests.

In addition to these water features, families love an onsite arcade, signature MagiQuest scavenger hunt, character appearances, dance parties, and more kid-centered entertainment. Discover all of the seasonal activities at Great Wolf Lodge Southern California.

2. Disneyland Hotel

For a retro feel and a whole lotta fun, book a stay at the Disneyland Hotel. It’s adjacent to Downtown Disney with easy Monorail train access directly into Disneyland Park. In my opinion, this hotel offers the most classic Disney experience of the three on-site properties.

Disneyland Hotel’s E-Ticket Pool is perfect for water play, while the D-Ticket Pool offers a refreshing place to swim laps and lounge. There are also Mickey and Minnie-shaped hot tubs. Even little swimmers have their very own waterslides in the Steamboat Willie Splash Area.

Refurbished in spring 2024, the Monorail Waterslides at the E-Ticket Pool are the highlight, featuring replicas of the original Mark 1 Monorail trains in an impressive display. This nostalgic water play area is topped by a “Disneyland” sign reminiscent of the park’s classic years. Read more about this hotel and its incredible pools in my Disneyland Hotel review.

3. Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa

For the ultimate luxury, make Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa part of your vacation. This Disneyland Resort hotel features craftsman theming reminiscent of a grand national park, with a generous sprinkling of Disney magic. As a guest at this hotel, you’ll also enjoy a private entrance into Disney California Adventure Park.

Surrounded by picturesque pine trees and faux boulders, three pool areas provide options for swimming and splashing. A whimsical turtle-shaped water feature stars in The Fountain Pool. Plus, the circular Mariposa Pool features whimsical butterfly theming. Most exciting, though, is the Redwood Pool, with its 90-foot waterslide that curves around the giant stump of a Redwood tree. Hotel guests can also take advantage of hot tubs and lots of space to lounge and play. As with all three Disney-owned hotels, cabanas are available to rent for a fee.

4. Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel

Lovers of Disney Pixar animated movies will delight in the vibrant theming and character designs at Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel (formerly Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel). The rooftop pool deck provides a playful escape, inspired by Finding Nemo. On select nights, the rooftop transforms into a fireworks viewing area, complete with a synchronized soundtrack from Disneyland Park.

The star of the pool area is Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, a winding 186-foot-long water slide. The nearby Pixel Pool is a spot for swimming and lounging. Meanwhile, younger travelers can splash around in Nemo’s Cove, a dedicated play area designed for little kids. Parents will appreciate the whirlpool spa, too.

A little further from the theme parks than the other two official Disneyland Resort hotels, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the short walk to Pixar Place Hotel, depending on your pace. Still, it’s very convenient, especially since hotel guests have access to the private entrance near Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, which leads directly into Paradise Gardens Park inside California Adventure.

5. Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground

Across the street from the Disney theme parks, Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel is renowned for its fantastic onsite waterpark, Castaway Cove. The pirate-themed kids’ area at this Wyndham Hotel is a big draw for families. Expect plentiful slides, splash areas, fountains, water cannons, and even a pirate ship. There’s also a toddler pool with beach-style entry.

For a more mellow way to cool off, the hotel’s separate Garden Pool features lounge chairs and umbrella-shaded tables surrounding the 5-foot-deep traditional swimming pool.

6. Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance Hotel

The 20,000-square-foot Surfside Water Park at Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance makes a thrilling addition to any Disneyland vacation. Kids of all ages will love the water cannons, shooting fountains, two waterslides, and a 400-gallon (1,500-liter) drench bucket. A children’s pool with gradual entry allows toddlers to get in on the fun. For adults, there is a wading pool for cooling off and a spacious hot tub for warming up. All of this is located merely 7 to 10 minutes walking distance from the Disneyland Resort.

Two outdoor swimming pools at Hyatt Regency Orange County ensure its place on our list of the best hotels near Disneyland with pools. One cloud-shaped and one crescent-shaped, these pools add a little whimsy to your outdoor play. There is ample deck space for lounging, and pergolas provide shade from the California sun. Relax in the hot tub or around the outdoor fire pits, recharging your batteries after a day at Disneyland.

Rooms sleep anywhere from four to six guests, and children eat free with a paying adult in the on-site restaurant. Some rooms offer bunk beds — always a hit with kids! Walk the 1.1 miles (1.8 km) to Disneyland from the hotel’s location in Garden Grove, or pay a small fee to take a dedicated shuttle for hotel guests.
